Best Salads to Make This Summer: Fresh, Flavorful, and Perfect for Every BBQ
School’s out, grills are sizzling, and the pool is officially open—summer is here, and I’m all in. Right after Memorial Day, I shift into warm-weather mode, soaking up the sunshine and planning easy meals for outdoor hangs. It’s also the perfect time to whip up the best salads to make this summer—fresh, colorful, and bursting with flavor.
Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue or bringing a dish to a potluck, a great salad makes all the difference. I look for bold flavors, satisfying textures, and vibrant colors. These are my go-to summer salad recipes—they come together fast, hold up well, and complement any grilled protein beautifully. They’re always a hit and easy enough for even the busiest weeknight.
Dakota, Indy, and I have been loving the extra time outdoors, soaking up that vitamin D. Good weather puts me in the best mood. Our herb garden is thriving this year—we even started growing hot peppers! Using fresh herbs straight from the garden has elevated every dish, especially salads. Plus, it’s saving me money. In past summers, I’d buy herbs, use a little, and toss the rest. Now, I snip what I need, when I need it.
Bright greens and bold colors make salads pop on the table and add so much to the meal. Summer eating should feel easy, vibrant, and full of life—and these salads check every box.
